New Zealand have shared a behind-the-scenes clip of their unique T20 World Cup squad reveal from yesterday. The video features the two little stars Angus and Matilda who had caught the press conference by surprise earlier. The Black Caps have shared the clip of the event on X where both the kids can be seen having some fun as they prepared for the squad reveal. The heartwarming video begins with the duo of Matilda and Angus reciting their lines as they move out of the elevator. They next thank the organiser for having them before rehearsing their lines in a dummy press conference. They can be seen complimenting each other in the video before playing a game with the staff members. “Go behind the scenes with Matilda and Angus on T20 World Cup squad announcement day”, they wrote in the post.

New Zealand made the squad announcement for the T20 World Cup in quite a creative way. Rather than having their skipper Kane Williamson or coach Gary Stead make the announcement, the Kiwis called upon two kids to break the news to cricket fans all over the world. A surprising yet exciting innovation, the duo of Matilda and Angus did not disappoint as they revealed the squad in a press conference.
As for the official T20 World Cup squad, the Black Caps have included a spin-heavy squad considering the pitches they will be playing on. Alongside their specialist spin duo of Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi, the World Cup squad also features Michael Bracewell, Glenn Phillips and Rachin Ravindra. For pacers, the team has included the duo of Trent Boult and Tim Southee who will be assisted by Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson and Daryl Mitchell. They will also have another fast bowler Bean Sears accompany the squad as the sole travelling reserve.
