The Indian cricket team has made an impressive start to their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign with two wins from as many games. They currently lead the Group A standings and are a win away from advancing to the next round.

In their next match, India will be up against co-hosts USA in New York.

Ahead of their penultimate group stage fixture, the Indian cricketers were involved in a unique fielding practice session. Skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and other first-team players attended the fun-filled drill session which was closely monitored by fielding coach T Dilip.

During the session, the players were divided into three different teams of five each and were told to practice run-outs on the field.

Each team was stipulated to get 15 balls to aim at six targets. Kohli came up with a perfect throw.

Later, India allrounder Shivam Dube also succeeded in hitting the bullseye.

The clip of the training session was shared on the social media platforms.

Reacting to the post, one user commented, “Practice well, we need to convert quick running between the wickets of opponent batters to runout, especially in crucial matches.”

Another pointed out the playing conditions. “So sad that WC had to be played at such a substandard ground and pitch,” the user wrote.

This social media user had a request for the Indian team management. “Wish for Sanju instead of Dube & Kuldeep instead of Jadeja,” read the response.

Intense fielding drills continue to be an important part of India’s training sessions. Players are even awarded a medal at the end of each contest to recognise their fielding efforts.

India’s much-talked-about trend of adjudging the best fielder with a medal began last year. The first-ever medal winner for the best fielder was Virat Kohli, followed by Shardul Thakur, KL Rahul, and Ravindra Jadeja.

India kicked off their T20 World Cup campaign with a resounding win against Ireland. In their next match, the Rohit-led side claimed a hard-fought win over arch-rivals Pakistan by six runs.
