The incident took place in the third over of the second innings when the South African pacer, Carmi le Roux, the left-arm pacer was bowling from over the wicket against fellow countryman Ryan Rickleton.
Bowling a fuller delivery just outside the off-stump line, the batter looked to hammer the ball straight past the bowler but managed to strike the bowler on the head. As soon as the batter saw what happened, he realised the gravity of the situation and looked tense.
The umpire on the other hand was quick to call the medical team to provide him with immediate assistance and ensure that the bowler was alright. The blow also meant that he was not able to compete for the rest of the game and the USA international Corey Anderson went on to complete the over.
