A key ingredient in Mumbai Indians becoming one of the most successfull franchises in IPL history has been their team spirit. MI have won the trophy five times, joint-most alongside reigning champs Chennai Super Kings.
One of the ways the MI coaching staff keep things relaxed in the dressing room and within the squad is by coming up with unique methods of punishment.
MI recently shared a video on Instagram with the caption, “Aisi punishment nahi chahiye re baba (Don’t need this punishment).”
The video begins with the question, “What does a fun punishment game look like?”
The likes of Luke Wood and Romario Shepherd stood together along with two of their teammates by linking their arms together, their backs facing Mark Boucher.
The former South African wicketkeeper then asked the other MI players to shoot volleyball at Wood, Shepherd and others as part of the punishment.
“Guys two shots each, so make sure you’re accurate,” Boucher was heard telling the players in the video.

Earlier in April, MI re-introduced the famous ‘punishment jumpsuits’.
Ishan Kishan, Kumar Kartikeya, Nuwan Thushara and Shams Mulani wore Superman-themed jumpsuits at the airport as a penalty for turning up late either for training sessions or team meetings.
With four points from six games, MI are now placed at the ninth spot in the IPL 2024 standings.
The Hardik Pandya-led side lost their opening three games on the trot before bouncing back to register back-to-back victories. That streak ended abruptly in front of their home supporters at the Wankhede Stadium last Sunday as CSK defeated their rivals by 20 runs in a thrilling contest.

Chasing a target of 207, MI fell short by 20 runs. Rohit Sharma kept MI’s chase alive with an unbeaten century but it proved insufficient.
MI’s next game is against Punjab Kings with both teams having four points from six games. The match will be played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur Mohali on Thursday.
