Think wicketkeeping excellence, what pops up? Names such as Adam Gilchrist, Mark Boucher, and Kumar Sangakkara come to our minds. But one that undoubtedly reigns supreme in the minds and hearts of cricket fans alike is that of MS Dhoni.
And today, the thousands who assembled in the Anbu-den of Chepauk in Chennai to witness the maestro at work, witnessed a moment of shock, as the talisman keeper dropped a catch to dismiss KKR’s Andre Russell.
After a strong start, thanks to the likes of Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Ravindra Jadeja came in with his off-spinners to turn the tide around as he scalped both batters in quick succession.
CSK then completely neutralised any form of retort from KKR and held them to a meager 113 runs after 17 overs.
Coming into his third over, Mustafizur Rahman then bowled a slower ball off-cutter full outside off to hard-hitter Andre Russell who got a thick outside edge on the swing.
Fans were eagerly awaiting on the talisman keeper to swoop in and collect the catch. But to the surprise of all present and those watching all over, MS Dhoni dropped the catch.

Dhoni was slow to react, lunged out with one glove to his right, only for the ball to hit the gloves hard and go down. Known for his lightning quick reflexes and his innate ability to be at the right place at the right time, Dhoni is agile and alert. But in this instance, it seemed as if he wasn’t.
Dropping someone like Russell could prove to be costly, but thankfully it wasn’t the case this time, as Tushar Deshpande came in and removed the West Indian in the very next over, before Mustafizur took over the rest and scalped two more in his final over, all to restrict KKR to a measly score of 137 in 20 overs.
CSK will now pad up and expect their batters to get the job done with relative ease, as the Chennai side chase their third win of the season.
