Star India cricketer Shubman Gill is gearing up for the Duleep Trophy which begins from September 5. Gill will be aiming to for a strong showing in the red-ball competition and get into the Test mode ahead of the two-match series against Bangladesh later this month.
Gill will be handling leadership duties of the India A side in the Duleep Trophy. Ahead of the competition, the young Indian batter was seen taking part in a practice session at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali. In a video shared on X, he can be seen hitting a lofted shot towards the mid-wicket region while facing a fast bowler.

Gill was last seen in action against Sri Lanka in an ODI series last month. In Tests, the right-handed batter last represented India against England earlier this year in March.
While Gill’s Test performance had previously been criticised by many, the youngster scripted a brilliant comeback in red-ball cricket against England earlier this year. In nine innings, Gill scored 452 runs at an average of 56.5.
He has so far played six Tests this year and scored 498 runs at an average of 49.8. The top-order batter has scored two centuries and as many half centuries thus far in 2024.
The Indian cricket team will be back in action after a rare break with the two-match Test series against Bangladesh scheduled to start on September 19. Later this year, India will also face New Zealand and Australia in Tests.
