When it comes to being over-aggressive on the field and losing temper, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is a famous face. The veteran Bangladesh cricketer has often been seen crossing the lines in agony and being sanctioned. His furious altercations with the people around him, especially the match officials, keep hogging the social light limelight. And sometimes, his off-field activities also get noticed.

A fresh video is doing rounds on the internet which shows Shakib getting irritated by a fan, who wanted to have a selfie and ends up manhandling him. The veteran cricketer initially denied the fan a selfie but he kept insisting. As Shakib lost his patience, he held the fan’s hand and moved him aside before turning aback.

The Bangladesh cricket team is currently gearing up for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, starting next month in the West Indies and the US. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to announce the 15-man squad whereas Shakib isn’t happy with the team’s preparation for the showpiece event.

“In the last World Cup, we performed reasonably and though we didn’t do extremely well no one will say we did badly. If that is our benchmark then we have a chance of crossing it in this World Cup and if we want to do that we have to win three matches in the first round,” Shakib told reporters in Dhaka on May 5.

“In Australia (T20 World Cup in 2022) we went after playing against New Zealand and Pakistan and so certainly we went to the World Cup on the back of very good preparation and considering that this is not ideal. But this is the best we can as far as preparation is concerned,” he added.

Before heading into the tournament the Bangla Tigers will take on the USA in a 3-match T20I series later this month in Huston. Shakib believes it helps the team adapt to the conditions well.

“A big reason behind playing against the USA is to get adapted to their conditions and to know about the place because there are not too many players who played in the USA. Very few have the experience of playing there in Florida (2018) and we will get accustomed to the conditions by playing this series but at the same time I would say this is not ideal (preparation-wise),” Shakib said.
