'Never Seen Any Fast Bowler in India...': Rohit Sharma's Huge Praise for 'Unreal' Jasprit Bumrah
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah ended the India-England Test series with 19 wickets from four matches.

India captain Rohit Sharma recalled the incredible spell of fast bowling by pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the second Test of the recently-concluded India vs England Test series.

India had lost the first Test in Hyderabad by 28 runs but bounced back in terrific fashion in Visakhapatnam riding on Bumrah’s career-best figures at home as well as an outrageous double-ton from young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Bumrah was breathtaking during the Test series, tormenting the English batters.

In an interview with Team RO, Rohit , who plays with Jasprit Bumrah at Mumbai Indians too, reminisced the bowler’s dominant show in Vizag, terming his spell as the best by any fast bowler in India.

“That Bumrah spell at Vizag was unreal. On a flat pitch and 35-36 degrees, it is nearly impossible for a fast bowler to bowl that spell. And then comes Bumrah, who gets the ball to reverse both sides and brings the team into the game. I have never seen any fast bowler in India bowled the way he has bowled and got us those wickets,” Rohit said.

Bumrah had a series to remember as the 30-year-old picked up 19 wickets in four Tests. He registered figures of 6/45 in the first innings of the second Test, his best-ever haul at home.

He also became the quickest Indian to reach 150 wickets and the first-ever Indian fast bowler to scale the peak of the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings.

The wily pacer will next be seen in action for the MI in IPL 2024.

MI will play their first game against 2022 champions Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday, March 24, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Rohit praised fellow opener Jaiswal who broke a host of records en route to his aggregate of 712 runs during the England Tests, the most by an Indian player in a Test series since Sunil Gavaskar scored 774 against West Indies in 1978-79.

“Jaiswal’s innings (209) covered half the percentage of the team’s score, while the next best was 30-40. For us to come back into the Test series and perhaps win the next three matches on the trot, someone had to put their hand up to bail the team out in the second match. And for the same, there was Bumrah and Jaiswal,” Rohit said.
