Following weeks of action-packed cricket, the second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) has now reached the knock-out stage. Having won six of their eight group-league matches, Delhi Capitals have finished at the top of the table and are set to feature in the WPL final for the second consecutive time. They will lock horns with the winners of the Eliminator where Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on each other. The Eliminator will be hosted at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Friday, March 15. Mumbai Indians entered the campaign as the reigning champions and registered five wins in the group stage. They could have secured a direct entry into the final but ended up losing the last match to Royal Challengers Bangalore.
It was a low-scoring affair where the Mumbai-based franchise was bundled out for 113 in the first innings. RCB completed the chase with ease in the 15th over, thanks to an unbeaten knock of 40 by Ellyse Perry. Richa Ghosh also excelled with the bat, scoring 36 off 28 balls. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai will look to turn the tables in the Eliminator, going one step further towards retaining the WPL title.
