One Instagram user sought Shami’s quick return to competitive cricket and wrote, “Come back World Cup hero.”

Showering immense praise on Shami one fan wrote, “Bro you look like a whole 20 years young man. Love from Kolkata.”

“Another comeback loading,” read another response.

One social media user referred to Shami as the, “Most handsome cricketer in the world.”

Shami has been away from action since suffering an ankle injury last year. He was last seen in action during the ODI World Cup final against Australia in Ahmedabad in 2023.

India will be hoping Shami gets fully fit for the upcoming Test series in Australia.

As of now, there’s no confirmed timeline of his potential India return.

Previously, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief selector Ajit Agarkar had said that Shami could be back for the Bangladesh Test series but now it has been reported that the 33-year-old will ease into competitive mode through the Ranji Trophy.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has all but confirmed that Shami will be available for the Australia tour.

“Our team is already well prepared. We have rested Jasprit Bumrah for a while now. Mohammad Shami is expected to be fit too. This is an experienced Indian side now. Seniors like Rohit and Kohli are fit,” Shah told The Times of India.

“Shami will be there (in Australia) because he is experienced, and we need him in Australia,” he added.

The Indian cricket team is set to face Bangladesh in a Test-match series scheduled to start in mid-September.

Following that, India will host New Zealand for three Tests after which they will travel to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
