Bengaluru, who sit seventh in the table, took their points tally to 10 in the ongoing season with 5 wins including their triumph at the picturesque Dharamshala, while Punjab slipped to ninth as their net run rate took a hammering after the heavy defeat at home.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted a 60-run win over the Punjab Kings at Dharamshala on Thursday in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League.

RCB managed to put up a total of 241 runs riding on half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar, before bundling out PBKS for 181 runs in 17 overs as Mohammed Siraj picked up a three-fer.

The result kept RCB’s hopes of a place in the top 4 alive, while Punjab were mathematically ousted from the race for a playoff position.

Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals continue to occupy the top two spots in the table respectively, separated only by NRR, with both teams on 16 points each from 11 outings.

Sumrisers Hyderabad, who have 14 points from 12 games this season stand third, followed by holders Chennai Super Kings, who come in fourth with 12 points from 11 fixtures.

Both Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants also have 12 points this campaign having played as many fixtures thus far in the tournament and are placed fifth and sixth respectively based on their NRRs of -0.316 and -0.769 respectively, which is much inferior to that of CSK’s NRR (+0.7).

Mumbai Indian, who have 8 points from 12 games, are also out of contention for the top 4 places but climbed to eighth after Punjab’s hefty defeat impacted their NRR, while Gujarat Titans, who have 8 points from 11 games sit at the bottom of the table ahead of their fixture against CSK on Friday, which could potentially lift them out of the bottom.
