Now on Sunday, Archer has shared a series of stories on his Instagram account including one in a Royal Challengers Bangalore’s cafe giving leaving fans on social media wondering if he might end up making a late entry into IPL 2024.
Archer was keen on entering the IPL 2024 players’ auction last December but skipped on the advise of England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as they wanted to manage his workload in light of his lengthy absence from action owing to a various injuries.
Archer played for five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians last year in May and a recurrence of an elbow injury cut short his participation to just four matches.
The 28-year-old hasn’t played any competitive cricket ever since and with the T20 world cup just a few months away, England will be hoping for him to make a full recovery by then.
Recently, England white-ball captain Jos Buttler had said he remains optimistic of Archer’s becoming available for the team’s T20 World Cup title defense in June.
“For Jofra, we all know just what a special cricketer he is and it’s been a tough few years for him not being able to get on the park and perform, but with someone like him who is such a superstar, you’re always optimistic that with the physios and doctors working, his body will just allow him to get back where he was”, Buttler was quoted as saying by EuroSport.
“I know how hard he’s been working at it and of course how desperate he is to come back. A couple of times (I’ve spoken to him). It’s really exciting for him that hopefully he’s going to get back to performing because as a captain, he’s someone you want to throw the ball to,” he added.
