India Selectors to Pick Sanju Samson Ahead of Ishan Kishan For Bangladesh T20Is: Report
Samson, who managed to post 196 runs in four games including a ton for India D, stands ahead of Kishan, who tallied 134 runs in four fixtures for the India C side. Following his good touch, the batter from Kerala could be preferred for the T20I series against Bangladesh.

Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson could edge Ishan Kishan for a spot in India’s T20I squad after both players had impressive outings at the Duleep Trophy.

Samson, who managed to post 196 runs in four games including a ton for India D, stands ahead of Kishan, who tallied 134 runs in four fixtures for the India C side in the pecking order. Following his good touch, the batter from Kerala could be preferred for the T20I series against Bangladesh, which is slated to begin on the 6th of October.

Kishan, who has spent close to a year on the sidelines despite being fit, gave a good account of himself in the domestic circuit and looked like he could be recalled to the squad in the home series against Bangladesh, but it seems as though Samson could pip him for the coveted spot.

Kishan has been added in the Irani Cup squad fixture slated to take placebetwee the 1st and 5th of October, while Samson isn’t included in the event which is set to conclude in Lucknow a day prior to the first T20I against Bangladesh in Gwalior.

As things stand, it looks as though Samson holds the pole position to start the T20I series, and could open the innings, despite his failure against Sri Lanka during which the 29-year-old was promoted up the order, but could not make his presence count.

Team India are expected to rest players such as Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj, Axar Patel and Rishabh Pant, citing essential Test duties. This could also make room for Tamil Nadu batter Sai Sudharshan, who pulled on the famous Indian blue during India’s tour of Zimbabwe.

Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side in the shortest format of the game, with Hardik Pandya serving as his deputy.

The first T20I is slated to be held on the 6th of October before the second scheduled to be held in New Delhi on the 9th. The third and final T20I between the sides will be contested at Hyderabad on the 12th of the same month.
