From catching drills to batting in the nets, the preparation looked to be in full swing as Pakistan hope to level the series in Melbourne next week.

After a humiliating loss in the opening Test, Pakistan are all set for the next encounter of the 3-match series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Boxing Day. Pakistan Cricket posted a video of the squad on X in which the visitors can be seen sweating it out in an intense training session at the MCG ahead of the awaited game.

From catching drills to batting in the nets, the preparation looked to be in full swing as Pakistan hope to level the series in Melbourne next week. The uploaded post on X read, “MCG Diaries: Pakistan squad gets in the groove ahead of the second Test #AUSvPAK”.

One of the fans wished his side the very best in their upcoming clash against the World Champions. They wrote, “Best of luck Pakistani team”.

Another said, “Great to see the squad gearing up! Excitement building up for the second Test.”

In one reply a fan suggested Pakistan play Saim Ayub in their next game. “Play Saim Ayub in the next match, at least we will see aggression from our opener”, he wrote.

“Time to register a win”, wrote one more fan.

Australia were unstoppable in Perth as they beat Pakistan by a whopping 360 runs in the opening Test match. Competing at the Opus Stadium, the hosts won the toss and decided to bat first. In what has been David Warner’s farewell series, the Aussie opener smashed 164 runs while belting 16 boundaries and four sixes. Mitchell Marsh followed up with a knock of 90 runs to help the Aussies reach a 487-run total. Pakistan’s Aamer Jamal scalped six wickets in the innings but the damage had been done. During Pakistan’s first batting innings, the Aussie trio of Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins made sure that the visitors didn’t get past 271 runs.

Australia’s second batting saw them score only 233 runs before declaring the innings. They had five wickets in hand but decided that the lead was enough for them to pick up a win. They were proved right as they curbed Pakistan to 89 runs in the second half. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood had the best performances as they combined for six wickets to seal a win.

Pakistan will next face Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground right after Christmas on December 26. The visiting side will be fighting for survival in the second Test match of the series as Australia currently lead 1-0.
