Glenn Maxwell on Sunday returned to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) playing XI after opting to take a mental break from the IPL. The ace Australian all-rounder was struggling to find his batting mojo this season. He managed just 32 runs in 6 games before stepping away from the ongoing season. After 17 days, he made his way back to the field as the RCB locked horns with Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. He made an instinctive impact, picking up the prized wicket of GT skipper Shubman Gill to announce his comeback.

Maxwell struck right after the Powerplay, bowling a tossed-up delivery to Gill. The GT skipper lofted it towards long-on but Cameron Green ran towards his left to grab a well-judged catch. Gill departed after scoring 16 off 19 balls, including just 1 boundary.

Despite losing the openers early, Sai Sudharsan and Shahrukh Khan left the host’s fightback with an 86-run partnership for the third wicket.
With Sudharan at the other end, Titans decided to do something different and sent Shahrukh ahead of the likes of Azmatullah Omarzai and David Miller.
The move worked as Shahrukh milked the spinners mainly in the cow corner region, hammering five sixes and three fours. He completed the half-century with a maximum over long-on off Green before Mohammed Siraj cleaned him up with a sharp yorker.
Batting at number four, Shahrukh (58 off 30) teamed up with Sudharsan (84 not out off 49) to give Gujarat Titans a much-needed push after a tepid start. The duo shared an 86-run stand off 45 balls.
Sudharan’s second straight fifty-plus score comprised eight fours and four sixes.
