Samson recently visited South Africa to be a part of India’s ODI series. He didn’t get an opportunity to bat in India’s opening ODI against the Proteas at the Wanderers Stadium as the visitors won by eight wickets. In their second game, Samson failed to find impact again as he was dismissed at 12 runs in 23 balls by Beuran Hendricks. That match took place at the St George’s Oval on December 19.
However, he made a statement in the third and deciding ODI at Boland Park. South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl first in the match. Samson stepped up big for his side, smashing a scintillating century while smashing six boundaries and three maximums. His powerful knock helped India put up a total of 296 runs. In the second half, Arshdeep Singh stepped up for the Men in Blue to scalp four wickets while giving away just 30 runs. India ended up winning the game by 78 runs.
