'Best Catch of IPL 2024?': Ramandeep Singh's Stunner vs LSG Leaves Ravi Shastri Amazed - WATCH
Ramandeep had his eyes on the ball and covered a lot of distance running back from cover. He timed his dive perfectly to take a double-handed stunner.

The re-match of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Sunday night witnessed a remarkable display of fielding by Ramandeep Singh. Only a couple of weeks ago, when both teams locked horns at Eden Gardens, the KKR cricketer’s extraordinary efforts to dismiss Deepak Hooda received a standing ovation from his team’s co-owner Shah Rukh Khan. Though the Bollywood superstar wasn’t in attendance at the Ekana, the KKR fans were forced to jump off of their seats when Ramandeep’s yet another well-judged catch cut short debutant Arshin Kulkarni’s innings.

Kulkarni replaced Yash Thakur as the Impact Substitute to join KL Rahul in the chase of 236. The youngster took off well in his maiden IPL innings, smashing a boundary each to Vaibhav Arora and Mitchell Starc but couldn’t continue too long in the middle.

It was the final delivery of the second over, Kulkarni looked to flick Starc’s length ball down the leg side but it lobbed up off the leading edge. The ball went too high and looked like it would land somewhere between cover and deep backward point. But Ramandeep was determined to grab it.

He had his eyes on the ball and covered a lot of distance running back from cover. He timed his dive perfectly to take a double-handed stunner, only to beat his previous heroics against the LSG in Kolkata. Coincidentally, it was Mitchell Starc who reaped the result of Ramandeep’s brilliance on both occasions.

Ramandeep’s catch also sent the people in the commentary box into a frenzy.

“That’s up in the air, difficult chance…ohhhhh! What a catch! Is that the best catch of the IPL?,” said former India head coach Ravi Shastri on air.

Earlier, Sunil Narine continued his explosive run in the IPL with an 81 off 38 balls, propelling Kolkata to 235/6 in 20 overs. Proving his worth with the willow once again, the West Indian went on a six-hitting spree, blasting seven maximums and six fours. The in-form Narine, who was dropped twice in the space of two balls, smoked five boundaries in five balls, setting the tone for the KKR innings.

Medium pacer Yash Thakur then stemmed the flow of runs in the final over of the powerplay, giving away only two runs as KKR reached 70/1.

However, the unperturbed Narine continued his onslaught and brought up his fifty off 27 deliveries with a cheeky late dab that sent the ball rolling past short third.

Naveen-ul Haq got rid of Andre Russell (12) before Yudhvir Singh, who came as a concussion sub for Mohsin Khan, picked up young Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s (32) wicket in the next over. The Afghan pacer swung back into action to account for the big-hitting Rinku Singh (16) while Thakur removed Shreyas Iyer (23).

But Ramandeep’s unbeaten 25 off 6 balls took KKR past the 230-run mark.
