Andrew Flintoff’s 16-Year-Old Son Becomes Youngest Batter To Score Century For England’s U-19 Team
The 16-year-old right-handed batter achieved the milestone during the third day's play of the ongoing second unofficial Test between the England and Sri Lanka U-19 teams.

Former England captain and legendary all-rounder Andrew Flintoff’s 16-year-old son Rocky Flintoff created history on Thursday (July 18) by becoming the youngest batter to score a Test century for England’s U-19 team. The 16-year-old Rocky achieved the feat during the England-Sri Lanka match, which is currently underway in Cheltenham.

After the visitors managed to score 153 runs in the first inning, Rocky, who came out to bat at No. 6 for the England U-19s, resumed his batting on the third day with an overnight score of 82 at the College Ground in Cheltenham.

The right-handed batter reached the triple-figure mark with a single on the third ball of the 132nd over, bowled by Manuja Chanthuka. During his stay at the crease, the youngster played a total of 181 balls and, with the help of nine fours and two sixes, scored 106 runs.

England’s captain Hamza Shaikh also scored a century (107) to help the hosts post a total of 477 runs on the board and take a handsome lead of 324 runs in the first inning.

Apart from the duo, Jaydn Denly, who is the nephew of former England Test cricketer Joe Denly, scored 91 runs. The 18-year-old, who represented England in the U-19 World Cup earlier this year, faced 120 balls and hammered 15 fours and one six during his stay at the crease.

Flintoff’s career for England

Flintoff is one of the greatest all-rounders to have played the game at the highest level for England. The 46-year-old former cricketer made his international debut for England in 1998 during a Test match in Nottingham against Sri Lanka and went on to feature in 79 Tests, 141 ODIs, and seven T20Is. He played a big role in helping England win the 2005 Ashes series at home against Ricky Ponting’s Australia. During his 11-year-long career for England, Flintoff scored 3845, 3394, and 76 runs in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, respectively, and dismissed a total of 400 batters.

He was part of the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL during the 2009 season, which was played in South Africa.
