Afghanistan are one win away from ensuring their place in the Super 8 round of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. The Asian side demonstrated their strength when they crushed a star-studded New Zealand in the previous outing. Rashid Khan and his men kicked off their campaign with a dominant win over Uganda. In their next group-league game, Afghanistan will clash against Papua New Guinea, who have yet to win a match in this T20 World Cup. The Group C fixture featuring Afghanistan and PNG will take place at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad on June 14.

With the openers, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran in sublime form, and the bowlers complementing their efforts, Afghanistan have been playing some enthralling cricket in this T20 World Cup.
Gurbaj and Zadran combined for a 154-run partnership in the opening game where Afghanistan posted 183 runs on the board. The duo replicated the performance against New Zealand and stitched a 103-run stand.
The Afghan bowling unit also showcased their A-game in their last two matches. They bundled out Uganda for 58 runs before restricting the Kiwis to 75.
Meanwhile, Papua New Guinea lost their campaign opener to the West Indies by five wickets. They put up a neck-and-neck battle in the second game against Uganda but suffered another defeat.
