Tata will step down as Chairman of Tata Sons and other group companies in December after a stint of over 21 years.

New Delhi: Ratan Tata will be attending his last Annual General Meeting (AGM) as Chairman of the Tata group on Friday. He will preside over the Tata Tea AGM in Kolkata.

Tata is set to retire as chairman in December 2012 and 44-year old Cyrus Pallonji Mistry, who is the current Deputy Chairman, will take over from him.

Tata will step down as Chairman of Tata Sons and other group companies in December-end after a stint of over 21 years, which saw the group becoming a true multi-national with more than 65 per cent of revenue coming from overseas operations.

Commenting on his successor Mistry, Tata said the new Chairman has all the values and ethics which are required for leading the over 100-year-old diversified corporate Group.
