Navratna status likely for 7 more PSUs

Power Finance Corporation, Rural Electrification Corporation, Power Grid, National Hydroelectric Corporation, BSNL, Nalco and Hindustan Aeronautics have submitted the proposals for Navratna status.

New Delhi: The Government on Monday said it is considering giving Navratna status to seven more public sector companies.

"The proposals for grant of Navratna status to seven more public sector companies have been received. The proposals are under consideration," Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Santosh Mohan Dev told Lok Sabha in a written reply to a question.

The companies which have submitted the proposals are: Power Finance Corporation, Rural Electrification Corporation, Power Grid, National Hydroelectric Corporation, BSNL, Nalco and Hindustan Aeronautics.

At present there are nine companies - IOC, ONGC, GAIL, BPCL, HPCL, BHEL, MTNL, NTPC and SAIL - in the list of Navratna companies.

In a reply to another question, Dev said since last month the Board for Reconstruction of Public Enterprises has received cases of revival of 41 central PSUs and it has already made its recommendations in respect of 29 companies.
