Jet Airways lays off 600 cabin crew, execs
The move comes after Jet Airways strategic tie-up with Kingfisher Airlines.

Mumbai: Saddled with mounting losses, private air career Jet Airways were reported to have laid off more than 600 cabin crew and customer care executives to 'service' its expansion plan.

"We have laid off some 600 cabin crew and customer care executives to cut down on cost and service the expansion," Jet sources said.

In the wake of downturn in global economies, especially in US and some European countries, the airline industry is cutting down on cost. The laying off cabin crew and customer care executives is a step in that direction, a Jet Airways official told PTI on Tuesday night on condition of anonymity.

The move comes a day after Jet Airways entered into a strategic tie-up with liquor baron Vijay Mallya-promoted Kingfisher Airlines.

The alliance envisages code sharing on both domestic and international flights, interline/special prorate agreements to leverage the joint network, cross-utilisation of crew on similar aircraft and commonality of training as also

of technical resources among others.
