Adani group-owned Mumbai airport has witnessed a significant rise in passenger traffic, marking a 7.7 percent increase year-on-year.

In the first quarter of financial year 2024 (Q1FY24), footfall soared to 13.46 million passengers, up from 12.49 million in Q1FY23.

During this period, 3.7 million passengers flew internationally, while 9.7 million traveled on domestic routes from the airport.

The surge in passenger traffic coincides with peak holiday months, especially during India’s summer season.

According to Business Standard, May emerged as the busiest month in Q1FY24, hosting 4.7 million passengers. The peak day was May 18, recording 163,166 passengers.

Operated under the name Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), Mumbai airport saw over 59,775 domestic air traffic movements (ATMs) and approximately 21,519 international ATMs during the same period.

Top domestic destinations from Mumbai included Delhi, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. Internationally, Dubai, Singapore, and London remained the top choices.

IndiGo, Air India, and Vistara secured the highest market share among Indian carriers, both domestically and internationally.

“CSMIA prioritizes safety and security, ensuring a seamless experience for all travelers. As we continue to achieve new milestones, we remain committed to surpassing passenger expectations and setting benchmarks in global aviation,” the airport stated in a release.
