As cricket ranks among the best-paying sports in recent times, owning exotic four-wheelers is not a rare scene for modern-generation players.
From former captain MS Dhoni to batting icon Viral Kohli, there are several Indian cricketers, who have got a passion for cars. Wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul is another active Indian cricketer, who also owns a decorated garage featuring several expensive models.
The 31-year-old has recently added a brand-new Land Rover Defender to his outstanding car collection. A YouTube channel named Cars For You first broke the news through a vlog.
In the video, KL Rahul was spotted getting out of a black-coloured Land Rover Defender, which is tipped to be one of the best-selling luxurious SUV models at present. It is reportedly the most expensive four-wheeler owned by Rahul. The Indian cricketer also has cars like the BMW X7 and Mercedes-AMG C43 in his garage.
Land Rover launched the new-generation Defender across different countries a few years ago. The brand-new premium SUV has grabbed the eyeballs of many celebrities and businessmen across the globe. Apart from KL Rahul, several Indian movie stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Ram Charan, Sonam Kapoor, Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Kapoor, Prakash Raj have already acquired the Defender. World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni also owns an older version of the SUV.
Similar to the previous models, the new Land Rover Defender is available in a short-wheelbase 3-door and a long-wheelbase 5-door version. While the SWB variant is named Defender 90, the other version is called Defender 110. What sets it apart from the older models is that the car is also offered in a three-row seat version, which is titled Defender 130. The version that Rahul has purchased is the LWB 110, which is best recognised for off-road performance.
The British automaker has enhanced the design of the Defender in its latest version, making the look more premium. Inside the cabin, the all-new version is equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, an all-digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a head-up display, a wireless phone charger, connected car features, and a premium speaker system from Meridian.
The other prominent features of the Land Rover Defender include automatic climate control, electrically adjustable front seats, electronic air suspension, a 360-degree camera, heated front seats, blind-spot assist, leather upholstery, rubber flooring, front and rear parking sensors, six airbags, ABS, traction control and more.
The SUV is available with 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre petrol engines, as well as a 3.0-litre diesel engine. Going by the YouTube video, KL Rahul has purchased the diesel version of the Defender and its 3.0-litre turbocharged powertrain is capable of producing 296 bhp of power and 650 Nm of peak torque. The ex-showroom price of this four-wheeler is roughly Rs 1.35 crore.
