The Monster 1200 R’s engine will produce 160PS and 131Nm, making it the most powerful naked bike from Ducati.

Ducati took the wraps off its new Monster 1200 R during the Volkswagen Group Night in Frankfurt. This motorcycle will run the R version of Testastretta 11° DS twin-cylinder engine.

Compared to the engine on Monster 1200 S, this version delivers 10 per cent more power and 5.5 per cent more torque.

The Monster 1200 R’s engine will produce 160PS and 131Nm, making it the most powerful naked bike from Ducati. It also gets a wet clutch with a ‘slipper’ function that is operated through a Brembo master cylinder.

The new Monster 1200 R gets a redesigned tail end which is more compact and high-slung. The chassis set-up has been raised by 15mm at the front and rear end, giving it a higher stance than the Monster 1200 S and ensuring better lean angles.

It will get Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres with the rear wheel using a 200/55 ZR17 sized tyre.

The Monster 1200 R comes with a new suspension set-up featuring fully adjustable 48mm diameter titanium nitride-coated Öhlins forks with black-anodised bottoms and bodies as well as a fully adjustable Öhlins rear shock.

Along with this new suspension package, it will get an Öhlins adjustable steering damper that controls handlebar movement under heavy acceleration.
