Indian Railways has introduced a special weekly train service linking Chandigarh and Gorakhpur.
It is set to operate from April 25 to May 27, coinciding with the summer vacation season. This strategic move aims to accommodate the expected increase in travel demand during this peak period.
The objective is to provide convenient transportation for passengers and ensure a smooth travel experience.
According to Hindustan Times, the Chandigarh-Gorakhpur reserved special train (GKP SUMMER SPL, 04518) would make five runs in each direction during this period, departing from Chandigarh on Thursdays and Gorakhpur on Fridays. The train will travel a distance of 914 kilometres one way.
It will depart from Chandigarh at 11:15 pm on April 25 and make stops in Ambala Cantonment, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly and Lucknow before arriving in Gorakhpur at 6:20 pm on April 26. Furthermore, the train will return from Gorakhpur at 10:05 pm on April 26 and arrive in Chandigarh at 2:10 pm on April 27.
According to the official IRCTC booking website, the net fare for reserved sleeper class is Rs 585, for AC 3-tier it is Rs 1,590, for AC 2-tier it is Rs 2,185, and for AC first class it is Rs 3,390. Meanwhile, the standard rate for seats without reservations is Rs 239 for those travelling without reservations.
This new service seeks to meet a range of travel demands and financial preferences by offering passengers between Chandigarh and Gorakhpur a convenient and comfortable travel option.
On the other hand, the Northern Railway has introduced a series of summer special trains which will operate only on certain days of the week.
Amritsar-Chhapra-Amritsar Special (Train No. 05049\ 05050):This train will run every Friday from April 26 to June 28. The Amritsar-Chhapra special return run will begin on April 27 and run until June 29 every Saturday. There are three types of coaches: general, AC, and sleeper.
Bhagalpur-New Delhi-Bhagalpur Special (Train No. 03483\ 03484):This train, which began service on April 13 will run every Saturday and Tuesday till May 28. In contrast, the New Delhi-Bhagalpur Special, which began service on April 14, will run every Sunday and Wednesday until May 29.
Malda Town-New Delhi-Malda Town(Train No. 03413\ 03414):The New Delhi-Maldatown Special,which commenced service on April 12, will continue until May 31, operating on Fridays and Mondays. Additionally, this train will run from April 11 to May 30 on Thursdays and Sundays.
