WWE is set to host the 37th edition of the Survivor Series, which will be the final premium live event of the year. The wrestling extravaganza will take place at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont on November 25.
This is the second time the roster of the Survivor Series features two gruelling war games among the company’s men and women superstars. While the last edition saw big names from SmackDown compete in the war games, this year, the headline-makers from Raw will take part in the themed matches. WWE has already released the match card for the 2023 Survivor Series.
Apart from the war games, the night in Chicago will get to witness two major title defences. While Gunther will try to retain his Intercontinental Championship in a match against the Miz, Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley will put her title on the line against Zoey Stark.
Gunther will be the fan favourite, thanks to his stature as the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time. He has already faced challenges from several superstars like Sheamus, Drew McIntyre and Chad Gable but never lost the title. Meanwhile, Rhea Ripley is an active member of The Judgement Day, a team which has been the face of Monday Night Raw for quite some time now.
The male members of the Judgement Day including Damian Priest, Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh will compete in the men’s war games. They will be up against Team Cody Rhodes featuring Seth Rollins, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn and Randy Orton. The women’s war games will see team Bianca Belair go head-to-head against the Damage CTRL stable featuring Bayley, Asuka, Iyo Sky, and Kairi Sane.
Rey Mysterio’s former teammate Carlito was set to face off against Santos Escobar in the WWE Survivor Series. But the roaster was modified after both wrestlers got involved in a physical altercation in the latest episode of Friday Night SmachDown. Replacing Cartilo, Dragon Lee will now take on Santos Escober at the premium live event.
