Former WWE Undisputed Champion Kofi Kingston has reportedly reaggravated the shoulder injury he suffered during the company’s Japan tour. On the July 8 episode of RAW, it was announced that Kofi had suffered an AC joint sprain in his shoulder. Weeks after the news, Kofi joined the rest of the roster on their tour of Japan, competing in Tokyo and Osaka.
Now, Karrion Kross has revealed that Kofi could not make it to the July 29 episode of Monday Night RAW held at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota after ‘reinjuring’ himself. Mocking Kingston about the injury in front of his teammate Xavier Woods, he said, “Now I was just notified that Kofi Kingston reinjured his shoulder on the Japan tour and that’s why he’s not here tonight. Do you really believe that?”
Kross’ verbal attack on Kofi Kingston did not just stop there. In his RAW promo, the superstar continued to harass Woods ahead of their match. He first made a demand to Woods, asking him to ditch the New Day and join the Final Testament live on RAW. Kross then aimed a minor dig towards Kofi’s unsuccessful title defence against Brock Lesnar and said, “I want you to tell that one bastard Kofi Kingston that he should have retired after he lost the WWE title in just 6 seconds.”
Woods was enraged by Karrion Kross’ words as he punched him in the face during the opening moments of the match. Eventually, The New Day member found himself completely outnumbered against the Final Testament. He ended up losing the match due to interference from Kross’ stablemates.
Over a month ago, Kross injured Kingston’s shoulder on the July 1 episode of Monday Night RAW. During the show, Woods and Kross were competing in a one-on-one fight with Kofi supporting his teammate from ringside. After some back-and-forth action, Woods locked this opponent into a pin and beat him with a three count. Frustrated by the upset, Kross attacked Kofi while he celebrated with Woods. Kross then put Kofi into an arm-lock, severely injuring his shoulder.
Following Woods’ loss to Kross, fans were anticipating Kingston to come out from backstage. However, that was not the case. While Kofi was a part of the Japan tour, he has not competed on live television since his loss to Kross on the June 24 episode of RAW. There has been no announcement of when the New Day star will make a return to wrestling action.
