Massive Infiltration Bid in J&K: News18 Accesses Exclusive Details, Images of PoK Launchpads, Terrorists
According to intelligence inputs, about 250 fully-trained terrorists on each side of Jammu and Kashmir are ready to enter. About 10-15 terrorists in Kashmir are hiding and have not attacked so far, but they are ready for a major strike very soon, said sources

Two sectors of Jammu and north Kashmir are virtually teeming with foreign terrorists with a fresh wave of infiltration, top intelligence sources told CNN-News18 on Thursday.

There are several launchpads at the border with about 500 terrorists poised for infiltration, they added.

CNN-News18 has exclusive details about the locations. On the Kashmir side, the launchpads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir are in Leepa, Jura, Chhejua, Athmuqam, Dudhnial, Tejian, Rattapani, Kel, Dhakki, Sonar, and Domel.

The Jammu side launchpads in PoK are located in Satwal Top, Bala Wali, Forward Kahuta, Bata Hallan, Nikial Kaman (Kotli), Tattapani, Khuiretta, Kot-Kotera, and Kotli.

A terror hideout was busted in the Kalakote area of Rajouri district by Army and police in a joint operation.

In photographs exclusively accessed by CNN-News18, the hideout and weapons used by the terrorists can be seen.

In the images, five highly trained and heavily armed terrorists can also be seen, waiting to infiltrate from the forward post of the Pakistan army in the Tattapani sector of PoK.

These terrorists were taken from Hajira to the launchpad last week in a Pakistan army vehicle, said sources.

Till last year, the People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), a shadow organisation of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was operating in Jammu and carried out 6-7 attacks on security forces and civilians, they said.

In April 2024, said the sources, large-scale infiltration happened in Jammu with operatives from Jaish-e-Mohammed who are highly trained. They entered Doda, Riasi, and Udhampur directly.

According to the intelligence sources, 30-35 Jaish men in 5-6 groups are on the eastern side of Jammu, in areas like Doda, Riasi, and Udhampur.

Also, 10-15 Lashkar men operating in 3-4 groups are in areas like Poonch and Rajouri, they said.

These groups that have entered the higher reaches of the mountains come down, attack, and go back, the sources said.

They added that with the increased dominance of the Army, CRPF, and police, terror incidents are low right now but the numbers are likely to go up with any relaxation.

“Unless they are neutralised or arrested, it will be difficult to control this,” said a source. The total number of foreign terrorists in Jammu alone is 50 with operatives from both Lashkar and Jaish. In Kashmir valley too, infiltration has happened in the last three months and this new group has been spotted as well. Around 10

launchpads across the borders in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir are also fully equipped and poised for infiltration.”

According to intelligence inputs, about 250 fully-trained terrorists on each side of Jammu and Kashmir are ready to enter.

About 10-15 terrorists in Kashmir are hiding and have not attacked so far, but they are ready for a major strike very soon, said the sources.

Machhal , Keran, and Uri in Kashmir and Hira Nagar in Jammu are active areas for infiltration, they added.

“They are entering with new names to make it organic and allow local fighters to maintain deniability,” said a source. “The weapon marks are mainly of AK 47 and M4. This M4 is the same, which was left by Americans in Kabul.”

CNN-News18 has already reported that the recent increase in hostilities in Jammu could be the early beginnings of a ‘Kargil II’-like conflict – after a soldier was killed and four others, including a captain, were injured as the Indian Army foiled an attack on Saturday by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) in the Kamakari sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Intelligence sources said that the recent attacks signal that the special forces of Pakistan are backing the operation and the non-state actors involved.

They drew a similarity to the Kargil War of 1999 because at that time also Pakistani armed forces trained and deployed troops and terrorists who launched an attack to seize fortified positions overlooking NH 1A in the Drass and Batalik sectors of Kargil in Ladakh. India understood that the attack was a well-organised military operation and defeated Pakistan in Operation Vijay, a war that was fought over the summer of 1999.

The sources also said that Kargil II could be fueled with the aim of creating an international diversion and deflecting attention from the Ukraine War.

According to sources, the United States and the West might be fueling this conflict to divert attention from the Ukraine war.
