A woman’s over a decade-old selfie is going viral after she spotted her husband in the background of one of her selfies from 2012. Jen Chai met her husband Jon in 2014, but interestingly Jon had been in one of her photos two years before the couple got to know each other. Last year in August the couple got married. This was 11 years after Jon unknowingly got featured in Jen’s selfie. While sharing her discovery on Instagram Jenn wrote, “We met at the right time. If it was before, I don’t think the relationship would have lasted. I was a narcissistic monster, unaware and naive. Took me a year of travelling and being single to reflect and realise my own mistakes. That’s when we met. ‘The right person will always find you at the right time.”
A post shared by Jenn Chia (So, I’m Jenn) (@soimjenn)
Her post gathered over four lakh likes since it was posted on December 26. Her husband, Jon, commented on it and wrote, “So glad you didn’t meet me in the first picture. We were meant to go on our own journey’s. We met a few years later at the perfect time.”
An Instagram user commented, “Omggg this is so magical!! Fate brought you guys together.” Someone joked, “Plot twist, he’s actually a hardcore stalker.” One of the most popular comments on the post asked Jen how she spotted Jon in her old selfie. While Jen has not responded to it, an Instagram user theorised, “Actually Google photos really help. Even if you have random pictures of anyone in your phone, if you specified that random person in one folder, suddenly Google photos will detect all that random person’s face, blurred or not. My baby boy has a folder in my Google photos, believe it or not, he has had the same auto-detect face since baby.”
Many people commented that this incident is a classic example of the “invisible string theory.”
The invisible string theory suggests every couple is attached to each other by an invisible string and hence, the lovers brush past each other even before knowing each other. This cosmic string stays intact regardless of the time and distance, and the couple that is meant to be together always comes together. The indivisible string theory is based on the legend of the “Red Thread of Fate”, which states that true loves or soulmates are tied together by an invisible red thread, regardless of obstacles, time, or distance.
