YouTuber and Kickstreamer Jack Doherty recently crashed his custom $200,000 (nearly Rs 1.68 crore) McLaren sports car while livestreaming. The accident occurred on the morning of October 5, during a broadcast on Kick. According to a report in the Daily Mail, the 20-year-old was driving along a Miami highway with a friend named Michael when disaster struck.

In the footage circulating on Twitter and YouTube, Doherty is seen distractedly glancing at his phone while driving through heavy rain. Suddenly, he loses control of the vehicle, skidding across multiple lanes before colliding with a metal barrier.

Another clip posted on his X (formerly Twitter) handle captures the immediate aftermath, showing Doherty’s frantic calls for help from passersby who stopped to help. He continues filming and asks one of the people assisting him to hold his camera as he gets out of the car. Distressed over the damage to his custom-designed vehicle, he laments, “All my money’s gone. My f****** car!” Turning to his passenger, Michael, he asks, “Are you okay?” Blood was seen dripping down from his forehead, prompting Doherty to react with, “Oh s**t.”

Doherty captioned the post, “Crashed my McLaren… glad we’re both ok.”

So far, the post has amassed close to 25 million views.

Another video from Doherty’s account reveals the duo in a hospital room where a doctor is seen stitching Michael’s injuries.

The content creator’s Kick account was removed after the crash and his page now leads to an error message, as reported by People.

Public reactions turned critical against Doherty. Many users highlighted his reckless behaviour, noting Doherty was texting while driving in hazardous weather and livestreamed despite his injured cameraman needing help.

One user remarked, “Bro we all saw you being on the phone while driving, you nearly killed yourself and your friend, and yet you would rather have him filming everything while he’s bleeding from his head, you’re truly what’s wrong with the world nowadays.”

“You are the prime example of what boomers think how zoomers act, in a car crash and still got the phone in the hand filming, you don’t thank the people who helped you, let alone make sure your “friend” is okay. You endangered multiple people’s lives today,” another added.

Frustration continued to pour in, with one user writing, “Quite sickening your carelessness caused this, I am glad you didn’t kill anyone, but you don’t seem the type to care. Humans that make the world a worse place. You.”

Another user expressed outrage, saying, “You could’ve gotten others killed and you’re just treating it like content. Hope the state goes after you. You belong behind bars.”

The Daily Mail reported that over 1.8 lakh viewers were watching Doherty’s Kick stream when the crash occurred. In a YouTube video uploaded on his channel in June 2023, Doherty disclosed that the McLaren was valued at $202,850 and mentioned that he had designed the car with a unique blue paint-splattered paint.
