Raksha Bandhan is just around the corner, set to be celebrated on August 19 this year. This festive day honours the special sibling bond between brothers and sisters. On this day, sisters across the country tie a rakhi, an amulet that symbolises protection, on their brothers’ wrists, while brothers shower them with gifts in return. One such video with a hilarious take on this tradition is doing rounds on the internet where a woman is seen dropping hints about the perfect Raksha Bandhan gift for her brother. The result has left the internet in stitches.
In the viral footage, posted on Instagram, a woman is seen casually hinting to her brother about the perfect Raksha Bandhan gift. The video starts with a woman, while on her phone, entering a room where his brother is busy with his laptop. She asks him to check the price of a Michael Kors bag, which he finds to be Rs 16,000. Acting disappointed, she tells her friend on the phone that she can’t afford it and will get it from Bandra linking road.
Without realising, her brother overhears this and rechecks the price of the bag, while the sister sneaks a smirk, knowing she dropped the hint perfectly. On Raksha Bandhan, she ties the rakhi on her brother’s wrist, eagerly awaiting her gift. To her surprise, he hands her over a chocolate instead of a bag. Flashback reveals the brother’s thoughts, “16,000 for a bag? With this much money, we boys can do a whole Goa trip.”
He then cheekily asks his sister to share the chocolate, leading to a playful slap from her. The caption accompanying the video simply reads, “Tag your lovely sister.”
Although the video was posted just a day ago, it has already racked up over 5.9 million views. The comment section buzzed with the flurry of reactions from the social media users.
One user quipped, “A ‘Cadbury’ and it works every time.”
Another shared, “Dkh kr sukoon mila ki aapka bhai v mere bhai ki trh kanjoos hai (Seeing this, I feel reassured that your brother is as frugal as mine).”
Someone else pointed out, “Isma sa aadha merko da was epicccc (That bit where he asks to share the chocolate was epic).”
The streak of hilarious reactions continued with one remarking, “Brothers know the Code. Pata tha Hum nahi denge itni Mehngi Gift (Knew that we wouldn’t give such an expensive gift).”
Another user sarcastically added, “Bro that’s too much you should have given her a pulse toffee.”
