Watch: Japanese Man Records Grandparents' Hilarious Reaction While Trying Indian Snacks

The internet is abuzz with videos showcasing foreigners eagerly trying various Indian dishes and capturing their reactions. While some fall immediately in love with the rich taste and flavorful essence, others express reservations about the use of strong spices and unfamiliar flavours. Nonetheless, these videos prove highly entertaining and garner significant views on social media platforms. One such video was shared by Koki Shishido, a Japanese content creator who lives in Mumbai.

Shishido recently delighted his audience by sharing a reaction video featuring his grandparents trying a selection of Indian packaged foods for the first time. The spread included aloo bhujia sev, Khatta Meetha, a sweet and sour mix and a pulse candy. And we must say, their reactions were unmissable. As Koki recorded the experience with his camera, he eagerly prompted his grandparents to share their thoughts on the taste.

To begin with, he offered them the sour Pulse candy. While his grandmom seemed slightly confused about the taste, Koki’s grandfather’s expression revealed his dissatisfaction with the tanginess. “The first taste I’ve ever had,” the elderly woman said while her husband was left speechless. Next was the popular aloo bhujia sev, which is loved widely across the country. Once again, Koki’s grandfather didn’t like the taste, while his grandmother said, “Oh, spicy! I can feel some flavour.”

Finally, in the end, they tried a Khatta Meetha snack that both of them liked. “It’s nice,” the woman said, agreeing with her husband. However, they hilariously concluded that it wouldn’t be easy for them to go to India. Social media users also hoped in and gave a few more suggestions for trying out. While some suggested Parle-G biscuits, Indian sweets and chaat, plain potato chips, and banana chips, others joked about having them try Hajmola candy, a popular tangy, digestive tablet.

Shared in April 2024, the video has garnered over 5,00,000 views along with more than 27,000 likes.

Notably, this is not the first time that the content creator has made his family members embrace Indian cuisine or culture. Earlier in another video, Koki was seen gifting Indian kurtas to his grandmother and mother. Looking quite happy and excited, the entire family dressed up in Indian outfits and posed for the camera.
