Danish badminton player Viktor Axelsen dazzled at the Paris Olympics and defended his gold medal. Axelsen got the better of Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand in the men’s singles final to win the gold medal. A video shared by the Danish shuttler has now gone viral on Instagram. In the video uploaded by Axelsen, the star badminton player was seen highlighting the differences between the qualities of the Tokyo Olympic medal and the gold medal he won at the Paris Summer Games. The video started with Axelsen showing both the medals. While the gold medal clinched at the last edition of the Olympics retained its shine, the one presented in Paris this time appeared to be a bit pale in colour.
The post was shared two days ago and it has so far garnered over 9 million views. Social media users also reacted to the video in the comments section.
“Tokyo better than Paris,” read one response.
Another Instagram user commented, “Tokyo medal looks more better in quality. Made in Japan.”
One felt that “Paris’s Gold is like a bronze.”
Another observed, “Paris one looks faded…. it represents liberalism of Olympics 2024.”
“Apparently the Paris medal contains a piece of the Eiffel Tower in the middle?! Absolutely loved watching you live this year! Congrats,” read another comment.
Viktor Axelsen became the first European to earn back-to-back badminton singles gold medals at the Olympics. His gold medal at the Paris Olympics is the only one earned by a European in the game.
American skateboarder Nyjah Huston also recently talked about the quality of the medal he won at the Paris Olympics. “All right, so these Olympic medals look great when they are brand new. But after letting it sit on my skin with some sweat for a little bit and then letting my friends wear it over the weekend, they are apparently not as high quality as you would think,” Huston was heard saying in a video.

“It’s looking rough. Even the front is starting to chip off a little. Olympic medals, you gotta maybe step up the quality a little bit,” Nyjah Huston added.
Nyjah Huston, who is a six-time world champion in street skateboarding, won a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. The 29-year-old has won 12 golds at the Summer X Games.
