A shocking video showcasing the concept of head transplant has left the internet in shock. In an over eight-minute-long animated video, two autonomous surgical robots take center stage operating surgeries on two bodies simultaneously. In the video, they take out a head from one body and seamlessly transplant it onto another. The video was shared on X (Formerly Twitter) along with the caption, “BrainBridge, the first head transplant system, uses robotics and AI for head and face transplants, offering hope to those with severe conditions like stage-4 cancer and neurodegenerative diseases…”

BrainBridge is a neuroscience and biomedical engineering startup in the US that has unveiled the innovative concept that would allow transplanting a patient’s head onto a brain-dead donor body. According to WalesOnline, the startup aims to offer hope to individuals suffering with untreatable conditions such as stage 4 cancer, paralysis, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. This technique will ensure the preservation of consciousness, memories and cognitive abilities.
Since being shared online, the video has captured the attention of viewers worldwide, amassing over4.2 million views. However, the concept hasn’t received universal acclaim. Instead, skepticism has emerged regarding the feasibility of the procedure.
One user remarked, “Interesting that they can potentially change a head but not cure cancer…,” while another pondered, “What happens when you put an 80yr old head on a 14yr old kid? Does the body stop aging? Asking cause pretty sure elites will do this.”
Some expressed moral concerns, with one person stating, “Some things should only be left to god,” another shared.
“Head transplant is still nothing but something from a sci-fi movie. We’re not even close yet,” another skeptic remarked.
“Still don’t get how the spinal cord could be reconnected,” one person confusingly asked.
“This is impossible, you can’t even disconnect the spine let alone the whole brain,” another individual added.
“Can’t believe I watched all that, I don’t trust this procedure,” a viewer wrote.
BrainBridge has announced that their pioneering procedure could be available within eight years. This innovative approach would utilise advanced robotics and artificial intelligence to perform the transplantation procedures. The visionary behind the groundbreaking concept is Hashem Al-Ghaili, a biotechnologist and science communicator based in Dubai, as reported by WalesOnline.
“Every step of the BrainBridge concept has been carefully thought out based on extensive scientific research that has been conducted and published by experts in various fields of science. The goal of our technology is to push the boundaries of what is possible in medical science and provide innovative solutions for those battling life-threatening conditions. Our technology promises to open doors to lifesaving treatments that were unimaginable just a few years ago,” Al-Ghaili said, as quoted by the portal.
