It appears that the Aadhaar card belongs to a child who was unwilling to pose for the photo.

It is a common understanding that Adhaar card photos are not the most flattering photos. Many people would also argue that they got stuck with a particularly bad headshot for their Aadhaar card that they now have to contend with. Now, an Aadhaar card photo is going viral which may make many feel better about their own ID card photos. This photo in question shows a child being forcefully made to look into the camera. A person holding the child hides his face behind the child’s head as he uses one hand to hold the child’s head towards the camera. The kid in the video looks like he is mid-scream.

An X user shared this photo online and wrote, “Show me a better Aadhaar Card Photo, I will wait." This post has gathered over 22,000 likes since it was posted on March 21. Commenting on it, an X user wrote, “Just wondering what was rejected to select this as the final pic?"

It appears that this photo was taken from a Baal Aadhaar Card, which is made for children under the age of five. This card lists the child’s name, photograph, date of birth, gender and the Aadhaar number of one of the parents or legal guardians.

In June last year, a woman named Anjie Uchiha took to Facebook to share her Aadhaar card photo in which she is wearing a T-shirt with an expletive written on it. While sharing this photo, Uchiha wrote, “Everytime I need my Aadhaar card for something, I cannot help but feel amused by how I casually wore a T-shirt that says ‘F*CK OFF’ on the day I had to get the ID card renewed and will now be stuck with this for probably the rest of my life."

To change the Aadhaar card photo, one has to visit an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or Aadhaar Seva Kendra. There, an official will take the applicant’s live photograph, which will be replaced with the old photo. A fee of Rs 100 is charged to update one’s biometric details on Aadhaar.

Back in 2015, a strange incident from Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind came to light when a photo of an Aadhaar card issued to a dog went viral. The Aadhaar card had the dog’s photo and it mentioned that the document belonged to Tommy Singh, son of Sheru Singh. The dog’s date of birth, November 26, 2009, was also mentioned. Upon investigation, the supervisor of the local Aadhaar enrollment agency in Umri was charged with forgery.
