Chaos ensued on the streets of Pune when a Royal Enfield Bullet burst into flames. The incident took place at Keshav Nagar in Pune and the video of the same is being circulated on social media, and netizens are unable to believe their eyes.
The video shows a black bike parked in the middle of the road. A nearby water tanker came to the rescue and started extinguishing the fire to avert further escalation. The men are seen working relentlessly to douse the fire. A man also tried to help by bringing in buckets of water and pouring it on the bike. Many passersby were seen stopping along the way to gauge what the entire commotion was about. Reportedly, no injuries were recorded in the incident.
While many appreciated the quick response by the people around to help minimise the effects of the accident, many gave suggestions on how to avoid such a situation in the future. A user stated, “Pune People are helpful,” while another advised, “Do not fill the tank completely of any vehicle in the summer season it creates pressure due to vapours.”
A similar incident occurred a few weeks ago when an e-two-wheeler caught fire while charging. The viral video shows a house in Surat engulfed in flames when an electric bike battery suggestively exploded while charging. The clip has captured the aftermath and shows the damage inflicted. It shows how the smoke rapidly fills a room, followed by an accident, and the residents seek to extinguish it with water.
The incident raised worries about the risks of lithium-ion batteries used in e-bikes. The reason for the explosion remains unknown. However, this has emphasised the need for tougher restrictions and improved public understanding of how to properly handle and charge these batteries.
