Childhood friends, Hall and Passaro got married, almost 20 years after reuniting at a school event.

An 88-year-old US couple has taught the internet that it’s never too late to find love. Elaine Hall, after reconnecting and falling in love with her childhood crush, got married to Roland Passaro after over 70 years of having feelings. They tied the knot in front of their children, grandchildren and even their great-grandchildren in Palm Coast, Florida, in March of this year.

Both 88, the newlyweds attended middle and high school together in Allentown, where they grew up blocks apart. After going separate ways in life, they eventually reunited at their high school’s 50th reunion in 2003.

Following her schooling, Elaine Hall got married, but her husband was soon deployed to Germany for military service. During this time, she raised three children while working at the local newspaper. Unfortunately, the marriage ended in 1975, leaving Hall single for the next 28 years.

On the other hand, Passaro also got married and has three kids. However, his wife and one of his sons tragically passed away in 2002. The following year, both Hall and Passaro met at the reunion and rekindled their old feelings. Soon they were talking over the phone and the conversations eventually turned romantic. “I always had a special place in my heart for Roland all through those years. I often wondered how he was, if he was happy, and if he had a good life,” Hall told Today.com.

After being together for almost 20 years, they finally decided to get married in late 2022. With their extended family around, Hall and Passaro had the “wedding of their dreams.” Sharing his feelings about his newly-wed wife, Passaro said, “When I saw her in 9th grade, I thought she was very beautiful and exciting. … I thought she was, I guess in today’s parlance, quite hot.”

“I thought I had my life all figured out. Retire to the beach, (be with) my friends and family. But when it did happen, to me, it was pure and simple chemistry,” Hall further shared.

Their story has gone viral on the internet with social media users showering love on them. Many even expressed curiosity about their high-school romance. A user wrote, “This generation might never witness this in the future,” while another commented, “I need to know what they looked like in highschool.”
