Mumbai-based Bar Is Selling Special Cocktail With Black Ants - Will You Give It A Try?
A Mumbai-based bar has gone viral for selling a special cocktail that is garnished with black ants.

Mostly drinks are all about fruits, soda, and alcohol but now it seems like bugs, ants have also made their way to our tables. In a video shared on Instagram, a special cocktail from a Mumbai-based restaurant is shown being served with ants. Here, the ants are used as a garnish in the beverage. While the idea sounds a bit scary and weird, it has clearly left the internet talking. The video is from the Seefah restaurant, located on Hill Road in Bandra, Mumbai.

In the video, the vlogger not only enjoys the drink, calling it “delicious,” but also gives a glimpse into the menu card, which shows the name of the drink, i.e., ‘The Antz’. It is prepared with mezcal, tequila blanco, grapefruit, vetiver, saline, and of course Black Antz. “Cocktail with ants as garnish seefah_hillroad . Will you try this cocktail? Share this with your friend who loves cocktails and will be eager to try this cocktail,” the caption read.

The vlogger was all praise for the unique kind of drink and its garnish, as he mentioned that the ants were “tasty and crispy.” However, the internet was not very impressed, as many took to the comment section and expressed their divided reactions.

“Did they roast the ants or the crunch was raw texture,” a user wrote, while another commented, “India is getting influenced by this culture of eating worms, insects, bugs and flies. It’s a good thing to adapt the way of life from other countries as it will elevate and give a better lifestyle that will bring ease to day to day living. But such cultural shock will only make us lose the whole charm and beauty of Indian roots.”

“There is no utility for the ants in the drink, better to leave them alone,” a user mentioned, while a social media buff asserted, “For all those ant lovers… Please don’t use mosquito repellent. They are living beings too.”

The video was shared in October 2023 and has caught social media’s attention for all the wrong reasons.

While here ants are just used for decorations, there are places where drinks are made with snakes and green ants. There is a special Vietnamese drink that is specifically made by steeping an entire snake in wine. On the other hand, another drink called Ant Gin is an indigenous Australian drink made with green ants.
