A recognised content creator. A Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) practitioner. A life coach. These are just some of the hats worn by Surat-based entrepreneur or solopreneur Vanitaa Rawat. She shares some of the most raw and heartbreaking stories on her Instagram.

In her recent post, Vanitaa shared the story of a girl who has been dating her boyfriend for the past two years. There is a 16-year age gap between her boyfriend and his sister. They used to live in the US, but around 16-17 years ago, when her boyfriend was born, the family moved back to India.

Recently, he discovered that the person he thought was his older sister was his mother. His sister had an affair with an unknown man while living in the US, which led to her becoming pregnant. The family then relocated to India and started a new life. Later, his sister got married and now lives a happy life in Canada. However, his parents recently revealed the truth to him, and since then, everything has changed.

The girl further shared that her boyfriend is now struggling with his identity. He remains upset and often says things like, “Why didn’t I just die at birth?”. She expressed that she loves him deeply and wants to stay with him. However, her boyfriend has lost trust in relationships and tells her to leave him, saying he doesn’t want to stay with her. She wants to give him time because she finds it difficult to live without him. She asked how she could help him understand, whether he will ever trust in love again, as she doesn’t want to lose him. The girl sought advice from others, and the post has since gone viral on Instagram, being viewed over 1 million times and receiving hundreds and thousands of likes, shares, and comments.

In the comments, a user named Monika Ashwani suggested that therapy could help. She said the first step would be taking him to a therapist, as what he is feeling is valid. She also suggested the girl attend the sessions with him to assure him that someone is there for him. It may take time, but eventually, he and their relationship will recover. Another user agreed with the boy’s reaction, stating that accepting such a fact isn’t easy, but she also sympathised with the girl, as she genuinely wanted to help him. She advised giving him time to stabilise.
