Marriage ceremonies in India have transcended traditional boundaries, evolving into elaborate spectacles featuring diverse elements. Themes, special dances, and vibrant colours have become integral components, reflecting a contemporary trend in weddings. In one such notable instance, a couple opted for an engagement ceremony themed around ‘heaven,’ aiming to embody the timeless belief that unions are destined in celestial realms. Taking the theme to new heights, the event showcased women suspended above the hall, symbolising ‘flying angels.’ However, this unconventional spectacle faced backlash online, with critics deeming it ‘inhumane.’
A video shared by guest @nikitachaturvedi10 captured the staged performance, depicting women adorned in white executing the stunt as they descended slowly, portraying the role of ‘flying angels’ presenting rings for the couple’s engagement. According to Brut, Nikita clarified that these performers were trained professionals, and various safety tests were conducted beforehand. The depiction of ‘flying angels’ lasted only a few minutes. Despite these assurances, the internet disapproved of the concept after the video surfaced.
