Felix Baumgartner, the Austrian daredevil famous for jumping from the edge of space, recently posted a video about his life-changing stunt. In a recent Instagram video, Baumgartner revealed that he spent five years training before his daredevilry.
“I am the guy who jumped from space,” he says at the start of the video. He underlined the importance of teamwork and noted that his crew was selected from a bunch of experts in different branches, people who worked together to make the mission successful. The management of the work and interactions between the members was critical because it was always challenging to organise a team that participated in such a high-stakes endeavour.
Describing the moment he jumped from almost 128,000 feet, Baumgartner said the first thought was “freedom”. He described his training time akin to being in jail, implying that a great deal of virtual energy had been generated in terms of emotions during the build-up to the jump’s completion.
“There was a lot that was going on in my mind. When the door opened, my oxygen was disconnected. I jumped, and my parachute opened and I landed. Honestly, it felt like I was in prison for five years. Now they opened the doors, and I was walking away in freedom,” Baumgartner said.
Several viewers on social media praised him for his brave actions and admired the feat.
A user recounted their experience of watching the stunt saying, “Was epic to watch. Stood in front of the TV and stopped breathing.”
Another user said, “One of the coolest things I have ever seen”.
The video was created in collaboration with Red Bull. Thus, seizing the opportunity, someone wrote, “Red Bull does give people wiiings ig.”
“Whooaa. Terrifying but fascinating”, read a comment.
Another user went on to mention, “His jump from space documentary was insane.”
“Damn the goosebumps comes back”, a user said.
