A man’s ‘smile designing’ endeavour proved fatal as 28-year-old Laxmi Narayana Vinjam lost his life during the procedure at the FMS International Dental Clinic in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills on February 16,” stated the Police. Vinjam, who was preparing for his upcoming marriage, had undergone anaesthesia as part of the smile enhancement surgery, rendering him unconscious. Tragically, he never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Apollo Hospitals.
The victim’s father, Ramulu Vinjam, alleged that his son succumbed to an overdose of anaesthesia. “We rushed him to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival,” he lamented, emphasising that his son had not disclosed the surgery to them and was in good health prior. “The doctors are responsible for his death,” Mr. Vinjam said.

According to NDTV, K Venkateshwar Reddy, Station House Officer, Jubilee Hills, mentioned that Laxmi Narayana had arrived at the clinic around 2:30 p.m. on February 16. “At around 4:30 p.m., he was taken into the operation theatre, and the procedure lasted almost two hours. They called his father around 7 p.m., and he was rushed to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills, where he was declared dead on arrival,” Mr. Reddy said.
Laxmi Narayana had got engaged a week ago and he was to get married next month.
Meanwhile, the body has been sent for autopsy and a case has been filed against the clinic for negligence under Section 304 (A) (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder) based on a complaint submitted by the victim’s father. “We are checking the hospital records and security camera footage,” officials reported.
In a similar incident in September 2023, a young woman from Italy died of cardiac arrest just days after getting breast enhancement surgery. Alessia Neboso, a 21-year-old Italian beautician, wanted to look perfect for her upcoming wedding to her long-time boyfriend Mario Lucchesi. According to Daily Mail, Alessia started feeling unwell days after the breast implant surgery. She developed a high fever, fatigue, a cough, weakness, and gastrointestinal issues. After her health deteriorated, her family took her to the emergency room of the Villa dei Fiori Clinic in Acerra near Naples. Despite medics’ attempts to keep her alive, she suffered a cardiac arrest a few hours later.
A close friend of Alessia told the media that her dream was to get married wearing a beautiful low-cut dress that would highlight her new cleavage. The friend also revealed that Alessia had a complex about her small breasts, even though they weren’t that small, and said they had advised against it, but she wouldn’t listen to their advice.
