How CA-Turned-Travel Influencer Aanvi Kamdar, Who Died While Making Reels, Shot To Instagram Limelight

A fun trip with friends turned out to be a nightmare for Mumbai-based chartered accountant Aanvi Kamdar’s family when she fell into a gorge from the waterfalls and died while making reels. The incident took place in Maharashtra’s Raigad district.

The 27-year-old content creator, who was on a monsoon outing with seven friends, fell into the 300-foot-deep gorge near the famous Kumbhe waterfall at Mangao while making a video on Tuesday, a police official said.

While making a video of the scenic surroundings, she slipped and fell into the gorge, he said.

The police and locals managed to reach the accident spot, rescued her and rushed Kamdar to the nearby Mangaon taluka government hospital, where she died during treatment, said the official.

“She fell on the hard, slippery patch of rocks around 300ft into the valley and couldn’t be spotted initially. She was sent up using a stretcher attached to rappelling ropes. Six rescuers climbed down the hill, while another 50 assisted atop the hillock,” one of the rescuers told ET.

Who Was Aanvi Kamdar?

Aanvi Kamdar, also a chartered accountant by profession, was a popular social media content creator who used to make travel videos from her travels. She had also worked at the IT/Technology consulting company Deloitte.

She was primarily known for her Instagram content on monsoon tourism, especially in the Maharashtra region. Her popular social media accounts showcased her passion for travel and sharing unique experiences with her followers.

Aanvi has over 256,000 followers on Instagram. In her Instagram bio, she described herself as a “travel detective.” Her content was based on discovering luxury finds, cafes, itineraries, tips, and vibes. She also posted content on travel budgets for popular locations in the country and abroad.

In her last Instagram post, Kamdar made a video listing five places to visit in India in Monsoon. Her list included famous cities like Udaipur, Bekkal, Delhi, Agra and certain places in Maharashtra and Karnataka.

She also posted about the flight ticket cost, hotels and other places to visit in the monsoons. The influencer also added some options abroad to her list and posted all the details about her travel plans for her followers.
