Google Maps Lists Amitabh Bachchan's Life-Size Statue In New Jersey As A Tourist Attraction

Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan has reached new heights, literally and figuratively, with his life-size statue in New Jersey being recognised as a tourist attraction on Google Maps. The statue was erected in August 2022 outside American industrialist Gopi Seth’s residence in Edison City, New Jersey and is located approximately 35 km south of Manhattan in New York. “Our home has become one of the most popular tourist attractions, thanks to the Amitabh Bachchan statue. Recognised by Google Search, this site attracts a growing number of visitors each day,” Gopi Seth told news agency PTI.

According to Seth, a steady stream of fans, approximately 20 to 25 vehicles carrying families, arrives daily to see the iconic statue of Amitabh Bachchan. He also mentioned that fans frequently send notes and cards expressing their adoration for the actor.

Seth added that these posts have attracted a lot of attention, increased the site’s popularity and established it as a popular online destination. He wrote on X, “The statue of my idol, Shri Amitabh Bachchan has become a popular tourist attraction in New Jersey. It’s my way of paying tribute to the legendary actor.”

Around 600 people gathered outside Seth’s Edison home—which is nicknamed Little India due to its substantial Indian-American population—when the statue was unveiled by community leader Albert Jasani, as per Outlook. Firecrackers were let off during the event, and Big B’s fan club performed an impromptu dance.

The statue is kept in a large glass container.

Seth, who came to the United States from Gujarat in 1990, has spent the last thirty years managing the Big B Extended Family website, www.BigBEFamily.com.

He told the news outlet that among other things, the website serves as a database of Amitabh Bachchan’s worldwide fan base.

The 81-year-old Bollywood icon has access to the database.
