'Bro Forgot To Not Laugh': Smiling Sunil Narine Is Internet's New Favourite Meme
A meme video of Sunil Narine’s uncharacteristic smile is going viral online.

A hilarious clip of West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine has left the internet rolling in the aisles. Not particularly known for sharing his emotions on the cricket pitch, Narine was caught smiling during one of Kolkata Knight Riders’ IPL games this season. The moment was so rare that it led to an X user making a meme on the video. In the clip, Narine can be seen lying on the cricket pitch before he looks towards his right in surprise. Just then an uncharacteristic smile broke out on the all-rounder’s face as he rubbed the sweat off his forehead. The video is funny because the user attached a clip of a woman clapping after seeing the cricket star smile. It is also accompanied by the Bollywood song ‘Pehla Nasha’ in the background.

The video has now been viewed more than 114,000 times on the platform while receiving several comments from netizens. One of them reacted to the hilarious post by requesting the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to consider this rare moment as the world’s eighth wonder. “Petition to Modiji for considering this as the Eighth wonder of the world,” he wrote. Another person joked that this moment was Sunil Narine’s entry into The Covert Indian’s hilarious universe. “Narine’s entry in Covertverse”, he said. One reply read, “never gets old”.

“Bro forgot to not laugh,” was another reaction.

Sunil Narine recently stole the show after he smashed his maiden T20 century in the IPL against Rajasthan Royals on April 16. Playing in front of a home crowd at the Eden Gardens, Narine was unstoppable in the first half as he scored his ton in a mere 49 balls.

His lightning-fast innings even sparked a reaction from the franchise’s co-owner Shah Rukh Khan. The Bollywood actor was on his feet as he cheered for the all-rounder’s incredible achievement from the stands. Narine’s knock helped the two-time IPL winners put up a total of 223 in the first half.

The momentum shifted completely in the second innings after Jos Buttler one-upped Sunil Narine’s knock with a century of his own. The England star smashed a 60-ball 107 to secure a narrow two-wicket victory for the table toppers.

The Kolkata Knight Riders are currently in second place with four wins in the six matches they have played in IPL 2024. They are next set to face a Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru side at the Eden Gardens Stadium tomorrow, April 21. The Shreyas Iyer-led side will be looking to take advantage of Bengaluru’s poor run as they seek their fifth win this season.
