Want Whiskey Delivered In Minutes? Beware, Scammers Use This Trick To Fool You
Online delivery scams in India have become a major concern and the latest story suggests people need to be extremely careful.

People fall for various online scams but the latest one involves the doorstep delivery of whiskey which never happens and the victim loses their hard-earned money.

According to news reports, a 32-year-old woman living in Gurgaon decided to trust an online delivery service to buy whiskey worth thousands but instead was scammed into losing more than Rs 30,000. The report says the fraudsters were operating from Bharatpur in Rajasthan. The complaint for the scam was filed on October 10 but the official FIR was only registered just a few days back.

So how does one get scammed by buying whiskey online you ask?

The news report claims the victim was searching for online liquor delivery services in her city and found one such service which was willing to deliver her preferred brand if she paid the money in advance to them via UPI. The police complaint said the victim paid Rs 3,000 for a bottle of Glenfiddich which didn’t feel suspicious at all. However, the victim got another call in which she was asked for more money as delivery charges.

The scammer asked the victim to send Rs 5 so that she can cancel her order. Interestingly, the victim’s money was deducted and credited to her account, but she gets another message where she is alerted about Rs 29,986 being debited from her bank account, which was done by the scammers.

It is likely that the fraudsters were able to get hold of personal details that helped them withdraw money from her account. Events like these have become increasingly common and it seems the fraudsters have a fair idea about their target and how they operate with them. The woman checked online for liquor delivery services, and they used this information to scam her.
