Smartphone batteries have failed to become reliable, so much so that companies had to work on fast-charging tech to compensate for its shortcomings. But OnePlus claims it has finally cracked the code behind a long battery life for smartphones with its new technology that has been developed in partnership with CATL.
OnePlus says the Glacier Battery tech has the potential to not only make smartphone batteries last longer, but also keep them lean and lightweight at the same time.
Smartphone Battery Anxiety, Gone?
Not since the days of the old and classic Nokia phones, battery life has kept users happy. OnePlus is working on changing this for good. The brand has revealed the details about the battery tech via its Weibo post in China, but we expect the development to be passed on globally, including India.
OnePlus seems to be hinting at a new paradigm for smartphone batteries which could end the whole anxiety aspect that forces people to carry power banks or their adapters with them all the time. The company is known for its fast-charging tech but even then, most people would prefer to have a phone that can last for more than a day and the Glacier tech could be the answer to those issues.
Reducing the density of the battery packs inside the phone could ensure that you don’t have to bear the thick bricks of phones that a 6,000mAh unit tends to produce. We could see a OnePlus phone sporting this battery tech very soon, and China could be the venue where the glacier tech could make its debut with the rumoured OnePlus Ace 3 Pro smartphone.
Now, imagine a phone carrying a 6,100mAh battery that can fast-charge when needed and also last longer than ever before. That’s the dream for millions and we could see it turn into reality this year.
