New Delhi: The infamous bendgate is passé. At the Touch Taiwan 2015 event, a local manufacturer AUO showed off a phone concept that bends for functionality and is not a design flaw.

The concept smartphone by AUO has a 5-inch AMOLED screen that is claimed to be unbreakable and flexible.

A report on Engadget notes that the phone has a bendable screen and has been equipped with a bending sensor that can be used as a form of input, like a stylus or your fingertips on touch displays, to control apps.

The company claims that the 1,280 x 720 resolution screen has six degrees of freedom for bending input and the technology can be further scaled and used for phones with higher resolution or in bigger devices.

Possibilities of the bendable technology could allow users to turn ebook pages on a tablet by twisting its side or zoom in and out an image by bending the device.
