New Delhi: Amazon's upcoming e-reader - the Kindle Oasis - is generating a lot of buzz with last week reports hinting at the e-reader coming with a solar-powered battery case. Now, exact details about the new device have been leaked in a product listing on Tmall retail website's page.
The listing has been removed, but as The Verge reports, the Kindle Oasis features a large bezel on one side, which is aimed at making the device easy to hold for longer duration. The display offers 300ppi, a resolution akin to Kindle Voyage. There is also an increase of 60 per cent in the number of LEDs present inside, making the backlighting more uniform.
The device measures 3.4 mm at its thinnest point and 8.5mm at its thickest. Amazon says that the Kindle Oasis, at 131 grams, is 20 per cent lighter than previous models.
In tune with the leaks, the Kindle Oasis comes with a rechargeable battery case that offers the device with an incredible 20 months of standby time. However, it isn't solar-powered.
A dual-battery system powers the device which basically means the device's battery as well as the case's battery work together and even while charging, if the case is attached, both batteries are charged simultaneously. When it is unplugged, the device will use the case's battery before using its internal battery. The leather case is available in three colours.
The e-reader now comes with a 'Kindle sleep mode', thanks to a software feature. However, unlike previous speculations, Kindle Oasis is neither waterproof nor water resistant.
One thing that still stays a surprise is the price, which is expected to be announced this week.
